Wasabi
Angelina and I are both really really sick now. Angelina doesn't cry when I blow my nose anymore, but she sure gets pissed of when I try to wipe hers. Poor little muffin.
We couldn't go to our playgroup this week, but we went last week and Angelina had fun. For me it was fascinating to see all the other babies... there were about five babies all the exact same age as Angelina. I knew that Angelina was small, but I didn't realize just how small! The other 8 month-olds were twice her size. They were huge, with enormous pudgy faces and gigantic tree-trunk legs. Also their faces were dispropotionate, more baby-like I guess. Don't get me wrong, they were very cute, but very, very different than Angelina. They behaved differently too. During storytime, all the other babies cried or ate or went to sleep. Angelina was the only baby out of a dozen who sat still, completely engrossed by the storyteller.
Tara and Matt just had a baby boy! His name is Tyler James McInnes.

Baby Talk
What do you think? The winner goes on the cover of Parenting magazine but I'm just hoping they show the picture on the air, just for fun.
Things have been good and bad. I have a wretchedly bad cold (bad) but so far Angelina seems not to have caught it (good). I have to blow my nose about every 15 minutes, and Angelina completely freaks out and cries every single time (bad). We started going to a baby group, and Angelina loves it (good).
New stuff Angelina's starting to do: beeping my nose, covering my eyes and playing peekaboo, pointing at stuff, pulling up to stand, and sort-of waving. Also, recently I asked her for a kiss and she leaned in, mouth wide open, and gave me a big wet one. Nothing is more fun than a baby!

Hi All,
The Beautiful Baby contest is on Regis and Kelly. The five top pics get to be on the show and get a pro photo shoot, and the winner gets to be on the cover of Parenting magazine. There are thousands and thousands of pictures sent in and I'm not seriously planning to win this, although of course I think that my baby is the most beautiful creature on the face of this earth. But it's free to enter and they show some of the pictures on the show, so I thought it would be fun to send in a picture. I really like that one that Sam voted for too... I call it "Happy Happy Joy Joy". Is anyone else going to vote?
Angelina's been a busy little bee. She was sick recently for the first time, and that was unpleasant to say the least! She also says "dada" to Matt, which is unbearably sweet! And she is starting to "cruise"- standing up, she will move from one spot to another. There is no doubt in my mind now that she will walk first instead of crawl. Oh yeah, one more thing: she is afraid of the dark! It's amazing how much personality even the smallest babies have. Speaking of small, she is finally starting to grow into 6-month size clothes... she is 8 1/2 months. She's my tiny dancer.
Sam, you and Lee look great! We are planning on coming to Van sometime before the summer for a week. That's all I know; the timing depends on Matt's work. Oh shit... I plan to be working soon too. Okay, maybe just for a weekend after all. Bummer.
What is the taboo sex show, Kirsten, and how did you almost win a trip? I'm confused by that tree picture... those two gigantic circles are a tree trunk? If so, that is astounding!

Taboo sex show
well hello all.
Wow I think that everyone in the world needs to go to the taboo sex show. I know I will be going every year from now. Drew and I came in second to win a trip to mexico for a week.
We are going to Victoria the first weekend of Feb to see my ex Tim and his wife. They just had a new baby girl named Aubrey. She is adorable.. but not as cute as little Gina.
My vote is of the one that Sam posted. It is so cute. What is the beautiful baby thing? Is it like a pagent for babies or a contest of something?
Drew and I are getting so excited about having kids.. Still waiting though (not my choice).
We had an awesome christmas and loved our tip back home. We spent christmas eve at the Galloways and christmas with my parents. We saw Keira and Matt and my very first time meeting Gina on Boxing day.
Drew and I just bought all new living room furniture. We love it. Its all white with a red couch and we will be painting the wall brown next weekend.
Picture number 1 is of Drew, Greg and his gf maureen by one of the blown down trees in Stanley Park. Note: this is only one tree not two
Picture number 2 is of Stinkfoot and Igore sleeping on the chair
Picture number 3 is of our new living room.
Thats all.

Voting
I love it!! Aww, what a doll. Lee agrees with Robyn and votes for #1 picture. What is the contest for?? In the paper??
my vote
I vote for picture #1. It definitely outlines all of her best features. She's absolutely adorable. Especially her smile in it.

Hello All! If any one has been watching the news or reading the papers you know that Vancouver is going thru hell right now with our weather and that our city is literally falling apart! the weird part is that I understand the whole lock freezing thing, the slippery roads, the everything - tonight is suppose to get down to -7 not including wind shield...umm hello!! This is Vancouver!! haha!
Key - Gina is growing up so fast - and she's so beautiful! I know when I am coming up to the cabin already this summer....but hopefully I can come up for a weekend sooner or you guys can come down here. Gosh, I miss you.....if you're not super busy one day and need a "mama" break - come on line so we can catch up.
Here's a new picture of Lee and I - It's from my annual cousin xmas that we have every year one my mom's side. One of the main activities we do during the night is crazy gingerbread house making - and in the picture is the turn out for this years mayhem....if you can believe it this years gb house is soo tame....normally it's a dirty (as in mind), crazy house...with candy santas with silver bullet candies in their heads, and yellow snow and paths that look like penis'. The only thing about this pic I don't like is you can tell I've gained weight and it wasn't even xmas yet (pic taken on Dec 23).
Anyways hope everyone is doing well and keep on blogging!
If you Thought I was Crazy...
Here's a quick CBC article about it: http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2006/12/08/toxic-chemicals.html
And this one's about the shocking study that started it. They tested the levels of chemical polution in regular peoples' (including children's) blood and found chemicals that are known to cause cancer and reproductive failure:

Even if you are more into what the Liberal government represents, you can't deny that they didn't do much and that Harper is getting things done and making this country better. I'm not just refering to this chemical thing of course, it's just one of the most recent.

lock de-icing story
Right now it is 7am and I have been up for an hour, trying SO hard to get my car doors unlocked. I have tried everything! I even went to 7-11 to get lock de-icer and used practically the whole bottle, and NOTHING. They will not budge! I think it's the mechanism that opens the door, because the locks seem to want to budge, but they just won't! Anyone ever had this problem? And people keep telling me to try hot water, but I think it might make it worse because if it is the mechanism, then I would just be pouring more water for it to freeze into it. Plus, how do you get it into the lock anyway to melt what's under it? ACK!
Anyway, I hope you all had a good New Years. I did stay up until midnight, but I was at the hospital with my mother. Her husband is in there fighting for his life now. With my family, if it's not one thing, it's another. It's friggin insane how much we go through. Anyway, we were at the hospital until about 9pm, then we drove home from Kelowna. When I got home it was 10 and I pretty much just hung out until midnight. Nothing special at all. Sounds like not a lot of people had TOO much fun. But if you did, I'd love to hear about it. I like living vicariously through other people!
See ya around,
Robyn

Happy New Years!!!

Aaaahhhh...
I have lots of pictures of course, but we relocated the computer and I'm missing the little cord to plug the camera in and get them.
Angelina is doing some really cool stuff. She can stand while holding on to something with just one hand, and the race is on to see whether she will crawl or just go straight to walking (like Matt did as a baby). Angelina eats just about every meal as finger foods now. I always had trouble getting her to eat until I tried just cutting real foods into little bits for her. Now she eats anything (brussels sprouts, lemons, etc.), as long as she gets to do it. She's my sweet little control freak! Just like daddy, again.
I'm curious to know, Sam, what else is on your book of favourite pastimes? PS If you think you're old, listen to what we did on New Year's: ate pizza, watched half a movie, tried to stay up 'til midnight but only made it 'til 11:15. Haha! It was really fun though, believe it or not. I'd rather hang out with Matt and Angelina any night.
I'm going to start seriously looking for a job now. It's definately harder to do when you also have to find good childcare and start both at the exact same time!
Has anyone made New Year's resolutions?
