Hello All! If any one has been watching the news or reading the papers you know that Vancouver is going thru hell right now with our weather and that our city is literally falling apart! the weird part is that I understand the whole lock freezing thing, the slippery roads, the everything - tonight is suppose to get down to -7 not including wind shield...umm hello!! This is Vancouver!! haha!

Key - Gina is growing up so fast - and she's so beautiful! I know when I am coming up to the cabin already this summer....but hopefully I can come up for a weekend sooner or you guys can come down here. Gosh, I miss you.....if you're not super busy one day and need a "mama" break - come on line so we can catch up.

Here's a new picture of Lee and I - It's from my annual cousin xmas that we have every year one my mom's side. One of the main activities we do during the night is crazy gingerbread house making - and in the picture is the turn out for this years mayhem....if you can believe it this years gb house is soo tame....normally it's a dirty (as in mind), crazy house...with candy santas with silver bullet candies in their heads, and yellow snow and paths that look like penis'. The only thing about this pic I don't like is you can tell I've gained weight and it wasn't even xmas yet (pic taken on Dec 23).

...then you were wrong. The government is now banning the use of many chemicals which are found in our household products. You know if it's bad enough for the government to do something, it's bad.

And this one's about the shocking study that started it. They tested the levels of chemical polution in regular peoples' (including children's) blood and found chemicals that are known to cause cancer and reproductive failure:

Even if you are more into what the Liberal government represents, you can't deny that they didn't do much and that Harper is getting things done and making this country better. I'm not just refering to this chemical thing of course, it's just one of the most recent.

Poor Robyn. My Mazda had a similar problem. The locks would refuse to open sometimes, but it was always much worse in the winter when it was cold. Maybe you need new locks?

lock de-icing story

Hey all,
Right now it is 7am and I have been up for an hour, trying SO hard to get my car doors unlocked. I have tried everything! I even went to 7-11 to get lock de-icer and used practically the whole bottle, and NOTHING. They will not budge! I think it's the mechanism that opens the door, because the locks seem to want to budge, but they just won't! Anyone ever had this problem? And people keep telling me to try hot water, but I think it might make it worse because if it is the mechanism, then I would just be pouring more water for it to freeze into it. Plus, how do you get it into the lock anyway to melt what's under it? ACK!

Anyway, I hope you all had a good New Years. I did stay up until midnight, but I was at the hospital with my mother. Her husband is in there fighting for his life now. With my family, if it's not one thing, it's another. It's friggin insane how much we go through. Anyway, we were at the hospital until about 9pm, then we drove home from Kelowna. When I got home it was 10 and I pretty much just hung out until midnight. Nothing special at all. Sounds like not a lot of people had TOO much fun. But if you did, I'd love to hear about it. I like living vicariously through other people!

Matt just had a bunch of days off and it was sooo nice. We slept in until 7 or 8 every day, got tons of stuff done around the house, and Matt got to spend more time with Angelina than he ever has.

I have lots of pictures of course, but we relocated the computer and I'm missing the little cord to plug the camera in and get them.

Angelina is doing some really cool stuff. She can stand while holding on to something with just one hand, and the race is on to see whether she will crawl or just go straight to walking (like Matt did as a baby). Angelina eats just about every meal as finger foods now. I always had trouble getting her to eat until I tried just cutting real foods into little bits for her. Now she eats anything (brussels sprouts, lemons, etc.), as long as she gets to do it. She's my sweet little control freak! Just like daddy, again.

I'm curious to know, Sam, what else is on your book of favourite pastimes? PS If you think you're old, listen to what we did on New Year's: ate pizza, watched half a movie, tried to stay up 'til midnight but only made it 'til 11:15. Haha! It was really fun though, believe it or not. I'd rather hang out with Matt and Angelina any night.

I'm going to start seriously looking for a job now. It's definately harder to do when you also have to find good childcare and start both at the exact same time!

Hi All!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their families and friends! All the recent posts are great, especially the ones with the pictures! I love pictures!!
In my world - Christmas went well but was busy - way too many people to see. It wasan interesting experience though, as Lee met almost all my family on my Mom's side......they all love him. What else, Aerosmith & Motley Crue concert was freaking amazing!! I actually cried when I heard Steven Tyler sing Crazy (it's my all time fav song by them and overall) - I didn't sit down the whole concert it seriously went into my imaginary book of all time favourite past-times. On a serious note I finally started corrective measures for my injury and had my first physio appointment yesterday it went well - but from now til who knows I have to go twice a week (at $45 a visit!!!!) I'm hoping it helps me....we also discovered that I have beginning signs of CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) in my left wrist, this probably was a factor from my arm/shoulder/back injury and also working at a desk all day....thank gosh we found it early. So I'm on the road to recovery - it only took since August!
As for New Years - Lee and I are taking it easy and hanging out with some of his friends - maybe going 4x4ing or something....gosh I feel old!! haha!

Well just thought I would get on here and wish you all a great christmas and happy new years seeing it is coming soon and I probably wont get time to write again before then.

We have been great...but really busy... busy at work like usual, a lot of people get depressed during the holidays and then well, there is the snow and the back log in the E.R's..... YEah.... so we park our patients in the hall ways ( AKA- Gordon Campbell wings) and wait... and wait...

things are still chugging along great with the wedding....can't believe how time is flying... only 61/2 more months. WOW!

well happy holidays guy's!!! get drunk on egg nog and rum and have a blast.... I'll be thinking of you!

4 days till family!

Well not a lot of news here. I talked to Keira for the first time in ages and made a date to see her for the first time since she was 7 months pregnant. I’ll be coming back to the mainland on Friday!! I’m so excited. I hope the roads will be good enough to drive on. That would just ruin Christmas for Drew and I. We are looking forward to introducing our newest baby Huckleberry to our families.
Drew and I are going to be buying a new car this spring. We are looking at a Subaru outback, or some sort of Toyota. We like the reddish color that isn’t red but isn’t orange.. yeah… dad has a couple used on his lot.
Our friends Pam and Joe from Manitoba are moving to the Okanagan this summer and they have gotten engaged! (key you met them at our wedding)
But yeah. I’m so excited about Christmas this year. We actually have not opened our gifts early! (we have opened them early every year we have been together) So we have a tree full of gifts!
That’s about it.

'Tis The Season to be Witty

I was out with Angelina today and a reporter from Vancouver asked me about the conjoined twins. She caught me off guard and I think everything I said was pretty dumb. She took down my name though; I hope she's not going to put me in the paper. I said something along the lines that it makes mothers feel thankful for their childrens'health, news is more impactful when it's close to home, and that Vernon is in the news again only this time for a miracle and not a crime. I wasn't very eloquent though, becuase I was trying so hard not to say something offensive like "thank God it wasn't my baby, she must be worried that they will die".

Of course immediately after, I thought of all the insightful and interesting things that I could have said. That's how it always goes. Like when someone is really mean to you and you sulk away, then the rest of the day you stand up for yourself over and over again in your head. That's not just me, right?

Hi, I'm Tom Hanks

Did you ever have a moment of sinking, terrible realization? That's the kind of moment I had at the Kelowna airport the other day when I realized that the keys to my car and my house were making their way to Ontario in Matt's pocket and I had no way to get home. Anyway fortunately I got some help. I am so lucky that:

1)My mom hadn't left for work yet, so she could pick up Bill on her way to work
2)My sister had got her licence just days before, so she could drop my mom off at work and take her car
3)My sister had a spare key to my house that I didn't even know about
4)I had a spare car key by the door in the house, so my sister could get it for me
5)Although my sister goes to school, she didn't have a class that day until the afternoon, and it was early morning

So Bill executed that complicated plan for me and I was only at the airport for 3 hours. I'm also lucky that although Angelina's diaper bag was locked in the car, I did have some food and a toy with me.

It's funny; I have been to the airport three times this year and been stranded there all three times! The other times were due to flight delays. I feel like Tom Hanks in that movie where he lives at the airport!

16 More Sleeps...

...till the merriest Christmas ever, now that we have our little munchkin.

Matt wrote his exam on Tuesday... his final, last-ever CGA exam! All done! No more school! For the first time ever, we will have weekends together. Except for this weekend, 'cause he's at work, and next weekend, 'cause he's in Ontario for work...Well, starting at Christmas we'll have weekends together. Free time; what a strange and wonderful experience that will be!

What's so great about this MAC makeup? I'm not criticizing, I just have no idea. Is it long-wearing?

We saw Thank You for Not Smoking, and it was really good. We saw a preview for kinky boots awhile ago and wanted to see it, so thanks for the reminder Kirsten! Still open to suggestions!

Oh my gosh those are the cutest cats, awe! I want one so bad but not allowed at my place. Cute names too! Oh and I totally understand the love for MAC - isn't it the best? My friend works there so I get killer deals, has buying it off ebay been good, how do you know the quality you're going to get or if it's been used?? I never thought of buying makeup online.
Key - I love the comparison photographs - the pineapple one especially you can really see how much Gina has grown, she doesn't look like the same little girl I met in the summer. As for movies - I watched Thank you for not smoking and it was really good, could just be my weird taste is some movies though...oh and if any one is looking for a great Christmas music cd - I bought the Il Divo one today and I love it! Totally worth the buy. Anyone else have good recommendations for Christmas CD's?? I only have 2 and that won't last me very long.
I'm doing well, can't wait for the holiday season...and for the Doctors to figure out what's wrong with me. Here's a new pic of Lee and I from 2 weeks ago at a lounge downtown Vancouver.

Kinky Boots

well I think that you should rent Kinky Boots for sure. Its pretty cute and funny, well at least we thought so.
Things have been going well here as usual. on Tuesday we have a meeting with a loan person to see if we can buy our own place. I"m so sick of renting and not being able to do the stuff I want to our house. just little things like crown molding.
I'm so excited about coming down for christmas even though it will only be a couple of days. None of my students still have parents so none will be going away for the holiday. Thus I go back to work on the 27th.
We bought The Village and are watching it now... so far so good... but we will see when it ends. it just started... but I have a crush on the Phoenix guy.. no idea what is first name is. but yeah. hes cute.. I'd do him.
Hmmm nothing eles really exciting or interesting going on. I'm addicted to buying MAC makeup on ebay and have 30 colors of eyeshadow.. hehehe.
Drew and I are done our Christmas shopping!!! we will likely do a we bit more shopping next weekend and that will be it.

The Da Vinci Code

We finally saw it last night.

I heard from a few people who had read the book that they did not like the movie. But that's always the case when you read a book and then see the movie! At first I hated Angela's Ashes and Great Expectations because I had read the books. Anyway, having never read the Da Vinci Code book, we liked the movie and we recommend it.

Between the baby (24 hrs) and Matt's overtime (nights) and CGA (weekends), we have hardly watched any movies in the last year. Serously, I can only think of a couple! But Matt finishes his CGA in December and Angelina goes to bed at 8:00 every night, so we are looking forward to getting caught up, 'cause we loooove movies. Can anyone recommend some good ones?

Hey guys!
Just wanting to let you know that I have been a little scarce and will be for the next little while because things are hectic in my life right now!

First off I had to write 10 essays this semester. Well 4 left. And I am in the process of packing. Me and Greg are moving into a townhouse on Middleton mountain :) I am SO excited about this because Vernon is a dump and we haven't been able to find any decent place for months and months. We are getting the keys to move in this weekend coming up! And I work the next two nights and then we're going to Just for Laughs Comedy night on Thursday! Plus, my exams are going to start in a few weeks and I have 7 of them!! I'm just not sure when all the stuff is going to get done! We are going to have a housewarming party probably on the 15th or 16th of December. Coming?

Where abouts are you living now, Keira? Do you want to get together soon? My gmail works now - robyngordon83@gmail.com. I don't know what was wrong with it before. It seems like everyone is moving nowadays!

Yes, Keira I am a crazy prepared person and I started Christmas shopping 2 weeks ago...I am done 5 people and started 2..... Yay!!

Other than that jusy busy with work and Lee...We're doing great - It's out 5 months next weekend...crazy eh?? He's been staying with me every weekend for the last month...and we've actual talked about moving in together, "rings", and kids...wow who would of thought...haha...Key don't get too excited!

Actually, she liked them. She just always makes weird faces when she tries a new food!

Angelina started eating like a champ when she was 4.5 months old, but the last few weeks she has refused to eat a bite! I don't know what's going on but she is finally coming around. Good thing, becuase she needs more than milk at this point. Also, she has five teeth! Most babies her age seem to have no teeth or they're just getting the bottom two. My poor baby, they hurt her! Also now she has started grinding them together which makes me cringe.

With her eating and becoming more calm lately I am excited about going back to work. She's not ready just yet, but hopefully soon. I'm looking for something part-time, low stress for now.

We bought a really fantastic, huge dining room set. It's pub-style with high seats and dark wood. It's really classy and I love it!

I can't stop thinking about Christmas. Has anyone started shopping yet?
