Camping

We'll have to pass on camping cause we're just not caught up enough to go away for that much time. I hadn't thought of just visiting; I'll ask Matt when he gets home. Will your cellphone be working? Anyway we'll be in on the next trip fo sheeze.

Thank you for the beautiful quilt wall hanging! There are so much detail and layers, it must have taken you a long time. It's awesome.

Making a date....

so glad to hear you guy's had an awesome time!!! You'll have to bring your pictures over one night. Sooo... I am making a date... are you two coming camping this weekend?? If not, do you think you will be able to come out and visit for a day or night??? well let us know... all the info is on the blog. Hope to see you soon.. There is a map and directions on there too.

We're Back

We're back and it was a fabulous honeymoon. We ate fantastic food, experienced a much richer culture, and explored entire cities made up of 400 year-old buildings. I learned more history on that trip than in the rest of my life put together. History is spectacularly interesting when you're actually standing in the battlefield, castle or even city where it took place. We also saw some of the most beatutiful Basillicas in the world, ancient relics, and famous art.

I don't know if anyone will still read this blog but I intend to keep using it. I have alot to say now that my entire existence doesn't revolve around the wedding. Hence the new background. I'll beef this sucker up later.

Matt and I are backlogged with the last 3 weeks' worth of work, but we are really looking forward to seeing everyone again, so call us and let's make a date.

A Fabulous Day!

Congratulations Matt & Key! You both looked amazing! I hope you're enjoying your honeymoon - talk to you when you get back!

Thank you to the wedding party (Erin, Jill, Tanya, Dave & Nolan) for everything you did so that we could all pull off a successful and beautiful wedding and reception. The 6 of us made an amazing team - thank you for all the laughs, smiles and feelings of security that you left me with.

To the Girls - We did it! We should start a party planning company! Hahahaha!

To the Guys - Dave amazing story/speech at the reception! Nolan - You're hilarious thanks for keeping a smile on everyone's faces and leading the Pop-quiz so well - still think the head table should have won!

To all the people who helped out(you know who you are) - thank you soo much for everything you did! The decorating, the CD burning, the idea brainstorming etc.

Kirsten- The gift opening went great! Matt & Keira got more stuff off their registry and also some lovely self/home-made gifts (a wonderful scrapbook etc). Wish you could have made it!

To All - Anyone who took pictures at the ceremony, reception or gift opening - if you can please pass on your digital camera files or extra photo's to Keira & Matt via mail or e-mail - they didn't take any of their own so would love copies of any pictures out there!

Hope to see you all again soon (maybe for a baby shower - teehee)! Take Care and enjoy your summer!

To the Bride and Groom...

I just want to say congratulations to Keira and Matt!! Tomorrow is their big day, and they will finally be tying the knot! We wish you all the best and hope that tomorrow brings lots of smiles of happiness. You are starting your lives off together as best friends and lead each other into your future hand in hand, side by side. I know that over the last couple years you both have been able to grow induvidually, but also just as important, as a couple. We all look at you with admiration and know that it takes great strength for you to not only have such a close loving and healthy relationship but to also be able to work hard at starting your careers and hopefully in the not so distant future, a family. Bryce and I just had our 5 year anniversary 2 days ago, and if there is anything that we have learned as a couple, one thing would be to always be there for each other, laugh, listen and to take that much needed break from the world just to say 'I Love You' each and every day. There is nothing stronger than the love you can create together and then look back upon when things begin to look dim. Together you will pick each other up and move on ahead, that is what love is... creating memories that you can cherish as a couple and when you look back, know that it was so worth it.

A Woop woop for the Bride and Groom and may your wedding day run smoothly but "quickly" so you can get on your plane and start your real life together. Happy Honeymooning!!!

Trying to be there tonight....

Well, we were planning on making it, and still trying to, but Bryce worked all day and works in the morning, and I have had a hell of a day, just not feeling well at all. Want to feel better for the 'big day' So hopefully see you tonight... Dave is going to meet us after he is done work at 9pm. Any idea whatz happening after the comedy show...he'll have to phone I guess and find out where we can meet him. I'd imagine we will still be at sneakers around 9 wont we???

Thursday

Hey Party Animals,

The plan for Thursday is to meet at Sneakers at 6. The show starts at 7. The rest of the details we can iron out once we're all in the same city. See you all soon.

Hey Matt...

you guys can come for lunch with us too if you are going to be hungry...or are you going to be running around?? getting beautifull?? doing your nails??? :)

Kirsten...

Lunch sounds good, How about we meet at 12:30 at the Turtle Bay Pub?? It is at the first set of lights by the lake, just as you come into winfield. You turn left to go to the pub, and you turn right to go to Kopje park. that should give us enough time to eat, get to know each other again, and be at the college at 2.

...

More like half an hour to decorate and nearly an hour to get ready. There are a million of you and barely any decorations. It won't take long!

lots of help

Hey there is no need to send you mom to help decorate.
there is Matt, Nolan, Ang, Bryce, me and Drew. that is tonnes of people. Ang if worse comes to worse we can get ready in our cars! I dont' want to get a dorm room since we don't have 2 days off. thus dont' want to book for 2 nights. but we are planning a hotel room!
Ang and Bryce you wanna hook up for some lunch before decorating? Get to know each other again since we will be spending most of the night together.. sitting at the friends table and decorating and such.
are the baloons helium? do we need to get them filled? do we have to set the tables? or are the caterers doing that, oh wait is it a buffet?
argh. so yes. really we have an hour to decorate the place and a half hour to get dressed shower off and makeup and shit???
ok
Kirsten

Timing

That's the earliest we can get in, but it should be fine. You, Kirsten, Matt, Dave and Nolan will all be doing it, and there's not that much to do, just 4 centrepieces, placecards, balloons and the paper lanterns. I can ask my mom and grandma to join in too if you want. Also, you can get ready in the dorms and the park is no more than 20 minutes away.

2:00???

WoW!! okay, we were going to meet at noon, but I guess we'll just have to come later... I just hope that gives us enought time to get everything decorated, get ready and then be at the park... i guess you cant get in the room any earlier???

Decorate

The room will be available to decorate at 2:00.

Thanks Kirsten, you rock my world. The candle containers can be pickle jars or whatever, you can't see them. There is a patio with tables, that's where these lanterns go.

tea lights

tea lights will work I got all the lantern stuff and will be crafting away all day today. I got 12 bags.. but now I was wondering if these will be going on the tables??? I don't know how that would work since you said that the tables were round and you already have a center piece. if the tables were square then it would be easy putting lanterns on either side of the "stargazers".
so yes. where would you like us to put them?
and for glass containers would you like nice ones or just pickel and jam jars?? if I got nice one would you ever use them again??
will 12 be enough?
ok ok
Kirsten

Stargazin'

Stargazers are the flowers that we're having at the wedding. They are giant, fragrant pink and white lilies. Kirsten I would looooove if you would do the paper lanterns! I can reimburse you for the costs. Can you use tealights in them, or do you need a container around the tealight? Too bad you didn't mention the stereo system before, we're paying a bunch of money to rent one at the reception. For the ceremony Nicole leant us a little one, I haven't tested it for sound yet but yours would definately be better.

As far as pictures by everyone after the ceremony, that's a no-go. We are trying to keep that in-between time as short as possible and that would probably add a lot of time. But what's more important is that the photographer is not taking very many shots and we purposely set things up in a manner that would get the families out of there asap, so they don't start saying "now one of Keira with grandma, now one of Matt with his parents..." etc. If all the friends stay around after the ceremony, then the families will too, and that will be unpleasant. Anyway there will be snacks, wine, and icebreaker games at the reception hall. And we can go outside and snap more pictures at the reception too.

Sunday, May 15, 2005

ok.

I would also like to get a pic of you and me Keira after the cerimony. will that be a problem?
I'm sure me and Ang can handle anything you throw at us. um.. I know what the paper bag lanterns are suposed to look like. I have a couple days off this week. do you want me to get started on them here and then just bring them down?? I have to make some from my wedding anyways. did you want lace around the top or paper doilies? and how many did you want? I could pick up some fancy scissors and cut the top off the bag then add lace. whatever. They are very pretty. I"m sure Michaels has white paper bags there.
Ang what time do you want to meet at??
Keira.. did you ever get a sterio??
did you get one big enough for the reception? if not me and drew have a big one with 5 disk holder so no one needs to take care of music. we also have huge speakers and an amp. it gets really loud.
ok thats it.. make sure you call me tomorrow
Kirsten
ps Ang e-mail me
pps. what the fuck are stargazers?

What on earth are stargazers???

Sounds good....just let us know what time you want us out there. The paper bags sound really cool and like an awesome idea... we could totally set those up for you. I think you can get white paper bags at a bakery...seeing you probably dont need that many...they may sell you some..
Other wise you can probably find some at a restaurant supplies store, or at big buy in Vernon... I f you want I can look around for you. Are you using tea lights in them???

k well... see you guy's on thursday... what time are we meeting at Sneakers again??? Are we going to be able to get a table this time keira?? (cause when we went for the hypnotist, it was packed....or were you and matt not there that time?) Ummm.... I know Dave (our room mate) isn't going to the wedding, but he has nothing to do after work that night... and we were wondering if he could come??

Decorating Comittee

Matt will pick up the flowers and bring them, the decorations, the placecards and the seating chart to the hall. Matt knows what the centrepieces look like.

The decorations are mainly the centrepieces and placesettings. The flowers will need to be cut and arranged in the teapots, and there are extra flowers for the cake table, head table, etc. We might also do paper lanterns with stargazers on the patio but that depends on how easy it is to find white paper bags and sand. We will also bring the arch in but not until after the ceremony of course.

I left a message with the conference centre to have the tables set as early as possible becuase the centrepieces can't go up until the tables are set. Hopfully they'll call back with a time tomorrow.

That's all I know, me/matt/ang/kirsten/anyone else? will have to iron this out this week.

Couple Questions

What do you want done with the decorations in the reception area? (how do you want it decorated?) anything specific? And is all of the stuff going to be up at the college in the room, or do we have to pick it up at your house?

When you and the bridal party are having pictures done at the park, are some of the guests allowed to hang around and also take a few good shots? Some photographers don't mind, but some don't like people hanging around.....??????

Rough Timeline

Thursday:
  • men pick up their tuxes.
  • Matt's party at the comedy club!

Friday:
  • Bridesmaids and I go to the florist and jewler and then make sure we have our nails/etc. done all during the day.
  • The reception is at 4:00 at Kopje park and then we'll get pizza and stuff either there at the park or back here at the sugarpad.

Saturday:
  • Kirsten and Drew will pick up the flowers in the early afternoon and meet Ang and anyone else who is decorating at the reception room. The bridesmaids and I might be able to pop in too. Someone from this activity will bring the bouquets along to the ceremony and give them to the Reverend's wife.
  • Men will find something to do until 3:00, then they will set up the chairs, placecards, table, arch etc. Remember the wine and glass!
  • Jodi plays music
  • The bms and me will be at the salon from 9:00 till 12 or 1. Then we'll eat a big lunch, help decorate if there's time, and get all dressed up and wait at my house for the call.
  • Once everything's ready to go, someone calls the bms and we drive out there in my mom's car. Mom will have my car
  • Jodi plays the 1st ceremony song while we walk down the aisle, and the 2nd one when we're coming back
  • bridal party stays for pictures, we tell the guests to go to the reception area where there is food and wine

Fearless

Erin I love my wedding makeup... first I wasn't used to it but it totally grew on me and I reallylove it. Thank you!

Kirsten, I bought a ringbearer pillow today. If you want to make one, I'll gladly return the one I bought and use your handmade one. If you don't want to make one, that's okay.

Thanks Tanya, it would be totally cool of you and others to be sure to circulate and make things comfortable.

I feel really naseous; I might have the flu. FUCK.

Have no fear!

Hey Keira everyone,
Keira I would be happy to make you your pillow.
I'll also pick up the flowers and help decorate with Ang and your ma. I'll be going threw Kelowna on the way to the wedding. tell me how you want the pillow.. if you want any color on the lace.. anything. also do you want me to put some lace in the middle of the pillow so we can tie the rings to it so they don't fall off. or just leave it?

Long Time No Blog

Sorry guys for not blogging as often as i would like, but hear i am. The bridal shower went wonderful, it all happened so great because of Sam and Erin and Jill, you guys rock. About rooming with the others, i am up for a 4 bedroom deal if anyone needs an extra in their room, i'm there. oooooh only one week till the rehearsal, it's coming up quick, i'm really excited. About the Parent table, i'm sure I can help mingle and keep things positive.
Tanya

Congrats Matt

Matt just got his Certified General Accountant stuff so he's officially a CGA student. Hooray Matt!

Deigan is the ring bearer, but I haven't found a pillow yet except for in a bridal store for $40. Can somebody help me?! If anyone can sew, that would do.

Happy friday the 13th.

Clearing Something Up...

Sam said see you at north campus on the Friday at 4:00... just want to make sure everyone knows that the rehearsal is at Kopje park, not north campus.

Countdown

I am scared of your advice Sam... but remember I don't need as much advise as you might think in the gettin' freaky department. Grr baby!

I think we'll use Canon for the aisle walk, even though it's typical. I want Claire de Lune (not the version you remember from playing the recorder in grade 4) but Matt thinks it's too "movie". The song I still need is the cheerful one that plays as soon as the ceremony is done and we're walking down the aisle. walking back up the aisle. As far as the man/wife dance, we're scrapping that. No one ask us to dance, we won't do it.

I'm feeling bad for my parents... the only people they have to sit with now are their own moms, who will go to bed early and then there will be just the two of them, and they don't get along. There isn't enough room at the Garcia table to put them there (and they wouldn't fit in anyway). I don't know what to do.

WooHoo!! Keira & Matt are getting married in 9 days!

Hello Team Sugar!
I want to start off by saying thank you to all the Bridesmaids for helping put on an excellent Bridal shower and after-party....it turned out amazing! I think we all learned more about each other than we ever expected! A special thank you to Jill and Erin ~ without the two of you things wouldn't have worked so well, thanks!
I can't believe that I will be back in Winfield in 7 days and that the wedding is in 9 days! Wow...how time flies!
Words of Wisdom/Advice Book - hahaha just wait Key I haven't written my words of wisdom yet......worried aren't you? hahaha.....I will do it on the Thursday I am there.
Key - Sorry to hear that G-pa and Norma won't be attending.....hopefully you hear back from the other 3 or 4 people soon. Did G-pa get his invite? Haven't got mine yet but it normally takes longer to get mail to Vancouver.
Rehearsal Dinner - sounds like you've got everything organized for the Friday night! I'll see everyone at 4:00pm @ North Campus. What are we doing afterwards?
Key & Matt - what is Deigan wearing to the wedding?? Is he the ring barrer(spelt wrong)?

Answering some of Key's Q's-
Where are the ladies getting ready?? Campus/hotel rooms or at Key & matt's house?
If we are getting ready in Winfield can't one of the guys dropped our bouquets there...or have them at the park with the ministers wife....either option might work.
I think Leia's car would be best...it's bigger and has 4 doors so more room to not get our dresses wrinkly......
Song - Hmmmm....is this for walking down the aisle or your first dance? Are you and matt still learning dance steps?
Ignoring your Mom/Garcia glares - You've got several options...you can glare back and smother your Mom til she thinks you're a freak OR you can hang out with the fun younger people, get drunk and boogie woogie til you can't boogie woogie no more.

Key - that is cool that Dad is giving you the Piano....where are you going to put it? Living room or spare room??? Is it part of your wedding gift? I totally forgot you knew how to play...wow childhood memories coming back....

Erin - Have you created your website yet??? If so, what's the addy?

Robyn - Welcome to Blog!

Alrighty that's it for me....see some of you in 7 days...everyone else in 9!

Grandpa John Can't Come

He's having his artery surgery and will be in the hospital. Norma won't be there either.

Rooms

Lisa and I have a room. If you had asked last week...
Bryce and I are just going home to Vernon the night of the wedding...

Hotel

It's my understanding (I could be wrong on a couple) that these people don't have a dorm room booked yet: Jess&Jonas, Robyn&Greg, Ang&Bryce, Erin&Rob, Tanya, Lisa, Dave

So, there's an opportunity to book a 4-bedroom, or a 4-bedroom-plus-rollout-bed and save money.

Jess is into it; if anyone else is then blog or email each other. Do it fast; we're talking about like a week away and there are other events happening (vacancy filling) at North Campus that weekend.

All in a Day's Work

Of course, I value the marriage advise I got from a room full of mostly divorcées and unmarried young ladies. Haha. In all seriousness though, it was a great idea and the book is beautiful.

I'm still plugging away at the wedding stuff, and now I find I have to start thinking about the logistics of the actual day. Like how do the flowers get from the men to the ladies? What car will we drive? When will we eat? What fucking song will we use, already!? How will I stay clear of my own mother, and of the sneering eyes of the Garcia table?

Tuesday, May 10, 2005

Ha Ha Ha

It was Adive or Words of Wisdom! so i'm sure you were given words of wisdom all around! hehehe just thought i'd throw that one in there...keira i wrote you and email so i dont need to blog....talk to you soon!
Erin

PS

Thanks Bill for being the only one to write in the advice book that we don't need any advice!

Remaining Positive

I just thought of something positive to blog (unless anyone wants to hear about Matt's mom, who is STILL harrassing me to change the wedding).

My dad is giving us his piano. Lately I've been listening to the great classics and aching to play again. I can't wait!

Also we'll see Sam and Dave and the rest of you in just 9 days. As I have already promised a couple of you, we will party hard and I will not be sick and pass out early.

12 days

Remind us never to go camping with Dave... we've heard about two camping trips and they both ended in the emergency room. Poor Katie, hope she's all better.

We got the invitations friday and some guests already have them, the rest are in the mail.

Thank you to my bridesmaids for a fantastic weekend from which I am not yet recovered. There was an enormous shower at which I was showered with a truckload of gifts, some of which made me blush and Matt's mom have a series of heart attacks. We also played lots of fun games. Then I was completely blown away by a movie-theme dinner and party where I drank more than I have since highschool, some people learned way too much about others, and we had a full-house sleepover. I will never underestimate the gals' ability to surprise me again; they got into my house to decorate and stock my fridge and made me think that I made the dinner plans.

Friday, May 06, 2005

Sorry... should have mentioned

There was a slight delay with the invitations, but I'm sure you will get them today. Katie hurt herself when she was camping on the weekend, so I had to drive out there, pick her up and spend all day in the emergency room (she's fine now)... so I didn't get a chance to mail them that day. I sent it express, so if you don't get them today, let me know and I can track it and see where it is.

15 days

I felt like I should blog since I haven't in awhile. This week and last have been crazy; I basically do wedding stuff from 8-5 every day and most days I'm in Kelowna, ordering things, picking up things, changing things, and definately buying things.

We haven't got the invitations yet but since Dave sent them last weekend, we should have them by now. Keep your fingers crossed they'll be in the mail today!

I have some wedding logistics to talk about, mostly with Erin, but I'll wait untill I see the gals... one of these days.

Wednesday, May 04, 2005

Rehearse

At the rehearsal, we all meet at the same location as the wedding and do a run-through of everything. This way everyone knows in what order they are coming down the aisle, where they are standing, who is doing what, how long things take, etc, etc. All of you have a part to perform. Dave, you'll be standing next to Matt and presenting us with our rings. Only the people who are actually going to be involved in the ceremony come; that will be the 8 of us, plus Nicole & Deigan, my dad, Jodi, the rev and his wife. Also we'll go over the chair/table setup since you boys will be doing that the next day.

Rehersal

... pardon my ingnorance, but what happens exactly at the rehersal... I've never been really involed in a wedding, so I'm just wondering what to expect. Thanks.

No actually...

Actually it is the Silverware that is the flatware. It's just another name for it I guess. I found that out when we got engaged because my Oma and Opa got us a nice flatware set for us as a tradition they had started with their kids when they got engaged.
What ideas do you have for the decorations??? It sounds like you're on a roll! Just let me know if you want my help. :)

The $800 day

Wow, you bought a condo! That is really cool. Is it in Langley?

Exams finished last week, thank fuck. I've been a lean mean wedding machine since then. Today I got all the gifts done. I also bought some of those little wedding bells and have some crafty ideas. If anyone wants to help, it should be fun.

Then, I was in the Bay and noticed that the dishes and stuff (is that called flatware?) that we registered for were gone. Turns out they have been discontinued. Thank goodness I happened to check!!!! Anyway I had to basically redo the registry. But there's lots of new stuff on it, so please pass it on to anyone who wants to know. And remember, when you buy something from a registry you have to let the cashier know or it will stay on the list.

We'll get the invitations any time and immediately send them out. 23 days till the wedding. PS I bought a punchbowl for my shower, whenever that may be.

Tuxes

Hey thanks for the reminder, I'm going after work today to get fitted. I bought a condo on the weekend and I've been bogged down in paperwork ever since, now I'm just trying to catch up on everything.

When are you guys finished your exams?

The center pieces sound Cool Keira... I am so glad you were able to come up with something you liked....that was easy. I can't wait to see them.!

Monday Morning

Well I can't drop them off cause I have no car, it's being fixed. You could come meet me and save me from waiting 2 hours alone in the scungy waiting room, or I could pop over with them after if it's not too late.

The centrepieces are teapots and teacups. We'll buy Artknap flowers on the day before, or send the boys for flowers on the day of, and put them in. The teacups and candles alternate in an escalating circle around the pot, which is on top of 2 books. I *finally* had a creative spurt last night and so I have a whole bunch more decorating ideas. If our hair is done early enough, maybe we'll go help decorate after all.

hummm...a bit confuzzled

hey there key....just read the last post so i am going to just ask some questions about it or make some comments.... and I (Key) will answer the comments in blue.

  • 9:00am for the hair is quite early......we need to make sure we have a bottle of hairspray with us at all times...hahaha...with 7 hours till the ceremony we'll probs need to sray! but we'll make doo..... I was worried about that too but they said no way will our hair come out. PS remember you figured the hair would take a really long time. So if we're at the salon till 1:00, then we have 3 hours (not 7) to get dressed, get made up, eat, and get to the ceremony (a good half hour away)
  • glad to hear u bought a tanning pass...i have stopped tanning but i am going to start up again this weekend....hehehe...i've blinded myself by the white! hahaha Blinded by the white... wake up like a douche, in the middle of the night...
  • good on ya bout the dress, glad all thats taken care of... Well no, but that one part is. Still several visits to go
  • confused how on the table centerpieces??? The short version: I'm apprehensive becuase I'm not sure they'll look nice and I don't want to spend a second 100+ and still have ugly centrepieces. Also, I found Ivy but I can't buy it yet becuase apparently they all get spider mites no matter what you do. Even the ones in the store had them. I don't want them in my house!
  • what game are we leading once we get back to the reception? I'll explain it later
  • when would u like me to do the place setting cards? Well there are still a few weeks and I'm not anal so whenever you want. If you want to get them out of the way soon just tell me when you're home and I'll bring 'em over.
  • WHAT THE HECK ARE ICEBREAKERS??? I'm astounded that you're asking now; I have talked about them since blog number one. They are group games that cause everybody to interact and wind up making everyone friendly and happy. There are millions of them; just google "icebreaker games" and you'll see.
  • and the gift opening is in vernon at your mom's place? if so i'll need an address and who is transporting all the gifts (if they are brought to the wedding and not straight to the gift opening) and wut time??? Everybody will need the address. We'll make up some sort of little paper with the address and time and give it out at the wedding and announce it as well. We haven't set an exact time, but late morning is a normal time (to account for sleeping in). One or two of us will have to load presents into our cars, but there won't be alot of presents remember. Only like up to 15.

ok well i think thats all i am confused bout right now so get back to me! **One more thing: I'm getting my practice hairdo next Saturday (April 30). Can you do my practice makeup on that day too?**

TTYL

Erin

Here Comes the Bride

Yesterday was the first day out of exams, and here's what I did:
  • Moved the ladies hair appointment to 9:00
  • bought a much-needed tanning pass
  • Went for my dress fitting with Ang and Bill and the dress is being altered now
  • looked at, got confused by and didn't quite buy the rest of the centrepeices
  • booked and paid for the chairs and table for the ceremony

Also, here's the new sched for the wedding:

4:00-4:30 Ceremony

4:30-5:00 bridal party pictures and 2 obligatory family pictures- need family police (BILL)

5:00 Bridal Party goes back to reception to lead game, K&M stay for rest of pics

5:45 Reception starts, icebreakers by bridal party

6:15 M&K arrive

6:30 Dinner

7:30ish Speeches etc.

Sunday: Gift opening at my mom's house

Study Break

Dave, don't phone Matt's mom about the stag. That's ridiculous!

Ang, thursday is perfect, I'm coming in to town to bring my sister home anyway. Thanks for the picture sites, I'm so dumb I was just looking up pictures, rather than wedding photographers' websites.

Sam yep, you're MCing and anyone else is welcome to help you if you want them to.

I can't break my only-10-minute break from studying rule, so off I go. Have news for later. Will call Ang.

Wassupp Team Sugar!

  • Wonderful ideas Ang! You're amazing, that website had lots of excellent ideas, you're definately a great help to the team and are accomplishing what some can't even imagine. Thank you!
  • Photographer Picture Ideas - Key ~ I either blogged or e-mailed you a bunch of ideas a few weeks ago.....umm...I mentioned that candid shots are great, matt on 1 knee in front of you(the proposing pose), head shots, group pics (everyone, girls, guys) A sibling pic (you & Jill), walking hand 'n hand (picture taken from behind), fun shots (guys in sunglasses, girls showing some leg) etc.
  • Music - Key- I will send you some ideas I have for music tomorrow.
  • Chairs - Key - I will send you an excel spreadsheet tomorrow with my idea
  • Dave - Can you send me 2 more picture options via e-mail; the one I like so far is the 'piggy back' one but would love other options. Also, Please call Pat Garcia(Matt's mom) she needs to ask you about Matt's stag on May 19th.
  • Food - The menu looks great Matt & Key; glad everything is working out for you both.
  • I will be doing MC at the reception - correct?? Plus, I am doing a speech at the dinner doesn't matter if it's before or after dinner, it all depends on when the others are doing theirs.
  • Bridesmaids - Check your emails, the clock is tick tocking! Tanya - where are you?????
  • Matt & Key - what day do you leave for your honeymoon??
  • Kirsten - Hope your move went well!

Anyways it's a beautiful day, and I'm off work(yes, I'm at work) in about 15 minutes so I will talk to all you crazy kids soon!

Invitaions

Hey Guys, I'm glad, you like the invites... so if you have no changes, I'll start producing them, it'll take me a few days and then I'll just mail them off to you. How many do you need? Are you sending one to every guest, or can we do one for every household? Let me know. Thanks.

Cool, lets get it done!!!

Keira, How does this thursday sound?? I am available when ever.... if it works for you, how about 11:00 or so?? We can also look for ivy and get the rest of the decorations that day too, if you want.. that way we kill three birds in one day. :) What do you still need for decorations?? Home Depot usually has good deals on plants... I have bought Ivy there before.. where have you checked??

I can definitly help with decorations on the day... and in fact, Bryce will have to too :) because I cant be running back to Vernon to pick him up before the ceremony... prob wont be time.

well let me know what you want to do... talk to u soon.

Wedding Helper To-Do List, as Promised

Men- pickups on the day
Men- chair setups
Ladies- Fri May 20 go to florist to see our bouquets
All- tell me what you're doing (speech, game) and if you have a preference for when (before, after dinner)

Someone please help me with these

Someone to play music at the ceremony

Buying the ivy and the last of the decorations

Suggestions for how to arrange the 26-29 ceremony chairs

Someone to lead group while we're getting pictures

Not Your Last Thoughts, Just Some Middle Ones

It's nice of Jodi to to the guestbook and music with you. Would she want to do the music at the ceremony? We need someone to hit "play" and "stop" at the appropriate moments. She wouldn't be farther away than the guests. PS, we need to borrow your ghetto. Is that still what they're called? I haven't used one since the early 90's. Boombox? Portable stereo?

Anyway yes we're registered at the Bay, but there are many things that we didn't think to put on there. We'll go do that as soon as we're done exams. Does Dawna want to know my favourite thing from the registry, or do you mean that she wants to get something else?

You might not hear back from Kirsten right away, they are moving here from Manitoba tomorrow.

Nope, no ivy yet.

Invitations

We finally got the sample invitation in the mail yesterday. It is spectacular! We never could have imagined it would be so cool. The logistics and creativity involved in making everything line up and coordinate so perfectly are astounding to us. The invitation looks great no matter which way it's unfolded and they'll be perfect keepsakes. Dave, thank you so much.

We'll call you tomorrow to figure out the logistics of sending them here. Thank you again, we're very excited for everyone to see them! Thank you for the CDs as well.

Eatin' and Boozin'

Yup, Games night 23rd. Ang, I think you were about the only person not drinking last time, so it's funny that you don't remember that we set that date!

Don't know if everyone wants to just do snacks again, but incase we want to do a meal I just aquired an orgasmic new quiche recipe.

Oh and I would love for you to come with me to see the dress! The store hours are during the day and closed on Sundays, so whatever day and time are good for you are good for me (after this wednesday).

Games night..23rd??

Keira... were you planning on games night on the 23rd?? I was just reading Kirstens response. If you are... we are interested... we are both off. And if you are.... Kirsten- I work in Armstrong from 7am-5pm on that day, so if you two want you can definitly jump in with me and catch a ride out to Winfield with us. (I mean hey, its not like we didn't grow up in the same neighbour hood... I know where your mom lives!! :) We live in Vernon and you could catch a ride back to there with us as well if you want. Well... let us know and we'll figure something out.

Keira.... I'll go with you to try on your dress!!!!! if you want.. let me know...

Photo

Sam - Sure, you can use a photo. I'll can show you a couple other ones if you want.. or do you have one in mind. Once we figure out which one, I'll color correct it and send you a high-res copy.

HURRAY!!

38 more sleeps.....(By Sam and Keira)

Hello Team Sugar! Hi! I (Keira) am answering Sam's questions in blue.

Bridal Party - It's time to put you're thinking hats on....I will send an e-mail before the end of the week explaning what still needs to be done by us.

Readings- The poem for the reverend is awesome! Erin glad you like the one you've got too! I'm still working on my reading/speech. Glad to hear two people like it; now I feel ready to send it to the rev.

OUC is on University Way - I checked the map that came with my room reservations Like I said, mapquest can be wrong especially when it comes to small areas like Winfield. Anyway if it wasn't University Way before, it will be cause it's going to be a UBC now.

Dave - Is it alright if I use one of your pictures that you took????

Key & Matt - What are the plans for the Friday night before the wedding?? There will be a rehearsal. I'm going to send the reverend the reading and ask him what time is best for him and his wife, who have a four year-old son. PS the wife will be there at the real ceremony to help with the logistics like who walks when, etc.

Key & Erin - How did the appointment with the florist go? Is everything set? Did you check to see if they can supply ivy plants as well?? If not, have you found somewhere to get ivy from? The flowers were ugly but I had her change them and now they're okay. Ivy from a florist would be way too expensive. I'm keeping my eye out, if you folks would do the same that would be super.

Key- Has your dress & veil arrived yet? Just yesterday. I need someone to go with me for the alteration appointment... I need to decide whether to have straps put on. I can't go till this thursday or later due to exams. Someone please go with me!

I had an idea...for the wine ceremony why don't you use a bottle of wine made by a family member instead of buying one. This way it was more meaning and is way cheaper! Interesting... but I don't think anyone makes wine, do they?

Key -Can you make a list of anything else for the bridesmaids to do that hasn't been done yet or that we've forgotten Certainly. Coming right up.

Key- Did you change the hair appointments for Saturday morning?? No- what time shall I change them to? 11:00?

Music - Do we still need more song ideas/options? If so, let me know I've got some good ones! Give them to me! Kirsten, Ang & Bryce gave me some awesome CDs for the dance; more dance songs are welcome but my real concern is what song to walk down the aisle to, play when we're man and wife, and dance the first dance to.

Photographer ideas - Do you have enough shot ideas for the photographer??? Well, I only have a few that I came up with/saw. I have been waiting for Tanya's ideas, but haven't heard from her since Easter except for one junk email. If you have some ideas, tell me!

Erin - make sure you get an updated attendee list for the reception before you do the table name tags No it's okay, if the attendees change it will only be by a few people.

Is there a new seating plan???? There will be, but I can't make it yet until we get the RSVPs. So far there's a big problem... we have one more person than we have seats.

Reminder- I am coming up to Winfield on Thursday May 19th(and leaving Tuesday May 24th)! I arrive at 2:30pm. Key are you able to pick me up??? Mais oui, bien sur.

Anyways I think that's all for now, keep updating! We finalized the reception meal/setup etc. choices and are waiting for an invoice (gulp). We settled on Chicken Parmesan; expensive but not so boring as plain chicken. I am having a salmon filet made for me. We booked our flights for the honeymoon, from Kelowna to Montréal, then back from Ottawa to Kelowna. Dave's invitation and CDs should be here today, which is awesome. This week is going to be slow for wedding stuff due to exams but then it will be a blitz. So please keep in touch!

Invitations

Thanks Keira, I think it says College way on your sample, but I'll change it back to University. BTW, I think it takes 3 days, so you should get it Thursday.

poem!

Key, i think that poem you sent me is a better one for me to read, and the one you posted is great for the revernd to read! and yes everything seems like its coming along just great! BRIDESMAIDS.......email me bout party plans PLEASE! takl to you soon....

Erin

ahhhhhh

wow thats a really bad picture of me on there...damn bowl cuts...yes i have not been on here in awhile all apologies, i wont make an excuse up for it because really it is my fault. these invitations sound amazing! im excited to see them, i like that poem, we studied that in english...very complex but quite cute. matt i know what you can say for vows! "i have three addictions...coffee, cigarettes...and you!" haha any updates on the honey moon? where your going to stay, how long the trip will be, ect....im sure youve already said a hundred times how long your gonna be there but yet again it may have slipped my mind, everything seems to be coming together awesomely...tanya? where the heck are ya? email me asap! jilli_bean18@hotmail.com incase you didnt know. anywho must read more of what i missed tata

Elizabeth Barrett Browning - Sonnet 43

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,—I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!—and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Invitations/Poem

Sorry Dave for not responding earlier. If I had, I would have said go with university way since OUC knows its own address and mapquest is probably wrong. It won't really matter anyway; I think almost everyone knows where it is, and knows each other to ask, plus the way to OUC is extremely well marked with highway signs. Thanks for sending the sample, we should have it tomorrow! We're psyched.

Erin, I just emailed you the poem. The reason I haven't sent it is that we still don't have a reading for the reverend and we thought we might need to give him that one. But I think we'll give him Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barret Browning. Both of them are really beautiful and we really love them both.

OUC

Question: The OUC website says the address for the North campus is 3333 University Way, but I couldn't find University Way on mapquest, so i tried College Way and it does find a 3333 College way... anyone know which is right? Thanks.
Thanks for the compliments everyone. I've been horribly sick this last week, so progress on the invitations stalled a bit, but I'm back in action. I don't want to say they'll be done over the weekend, but that's my tenitive plan. I realise we're running out of time... Matt and Keira I'll be sending you a copy for your approval soon.

Hello?

Hey Erin, I brought the nametags the other day but forgot to give them to you. PS tonight is games night if you and Roberto want to come by.

Dave, how are the invitations coming? PS go to Ang's blog (link on the left) if you want to read some more rave reviews about your photography.

Not much new to report becuase it's the last week of school and we're scrambling with the hw. Erin and I went to see the flowers and they were terrible! So I asked the lady to change them and she was pissed. Anyway, they look pretty good now. Also I paid the tuition on a class I'm taking this summer; $666. Is that a bad omen? It's expensive, anyway. Matt and I learned a basic Waltz, but we're not so great. Rhumba is next.

Billy Don't You Loose My Number

Bilbo Baggins Posted by Hello

Hey Bill, if you don't send me a picture then I'm using this one.

Erin

The florist appointment is at 11:00 tomorrow and we need to pop into a paint shop first to get a colour swatch. Bring your dress. Should I pick you up? What time?

Dave

Yeah Dave, the pictures are great. Ang and Bryce were raving about them too, and wanting you to do theirs. If you ever want to change careers, or moonlight or something, you should do wedding photography!

There's nothing else you need to know for the invitations, right? Ceremony-4:00 at Kopje Park, Lake Country; Reception 5:00 OUC North Campus; we are the invitors; RSVP to us by phone. Oh yeah, I guess we should have an RSVP BY date; let's say May 1

The Tuxes

Hello Gentlemen:

As promised, there is the tux info:

We’re getting our tuxes through Moores. I went into Moores in Kelowna and registered our party and picked out the tux style. Because the tux style is already determined, all you need to do is go into your local Moores and get fitted. When you go into Moores, here is what you need to know/remember:
-The group’s name is Garcia/Keough
-The group’s number is 322667
-MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM TO SHIP THE TUX TO KELOWNA

After they collect this information from you, they will measure your arm length, shoe size, chest size etc. They will also have you try on jackets, shoes, and shirts to determine the proper fit. The whole thing will take about ½ an hour. The total cost of the Tux is $75 for the shoes, jacket, shirt..everything. They will want like a $20 deposit from you at the time of fitting.

After they have your information, measurements, and money, Moore will have the tuxes shipped to Kelowna by May 18th. I know you guys (Dave and Nolan will both be here by Thursday, May 19th so we will go to the Kelowna Moores on Thursday to try on the tuxes in case emergency alternations need to be made.

NOTE : You guys need to get measured by about May 1st so Moores has 2 weeks to get the tuxes shipped to Kelowna.

I think that’s about all you need to know. Blog if you have questions

Matt

PS

Oh here is the homepage, and it's sooo awesome
http://www.ewg.org/

Everyone Read This

Everyone read this:
http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep/report/impurities.php

Click on anything in the charts at the bottom to see actual name brands of products with carcinogens (cancer-causers) etc in them. For example click on "formeldehyde" and see Johnson's Baby Oil, Herbal Essences products, etc, etc. You can also search for specific products, or do a lot of other really awesome stuff.

And this is one of my old favourites:

Pictures

Dave is still waiting for the ceremony time for the invitations of course, but Dave, are they almost done otherwise?

I still need pictures from Tanya, Bill, Dave, and Nolan.

Sam, we'll phone the Garcia house again for those addresses; we called yesterday but got the answering machine and no call back. Also they have lots of pictures of Matt as a kid (and videos too) and my dad will have some of me so that should be easy to find. The together one should definately come from Dave's bunch that he took.

There's a story of a man and lady....

We got our dresses! We got our dresses! They are so pretty! They are so pretty! Woohoo!

Key & Matt - any word from the Reverend? Did you ask for 2:00pm or 3:00pm??? I think the draft scheduleI wrote up when I was there.

Erin & Key - Let me know how the visit goes with the florist? Would the florist have any ivy plants???? Worth asking, isn't it?

Bridesmaids- Party Planning needs to be finished; I will e-mail you all on Monday. Please think about what we talked about and e-mail me with ideas.

Dave, Key & Matt - how are the invitations looking?

Key & Matt - have you got the address etc from Nicole yet?

Key & Matt (maybe Jill) - I need3 pictures.....1) Key & matt - recent is better(one that Dave took possibly?) 2) Key as a child/teenager...if you don't give me one I'll find one! 3) Matt as a child/teenager.

Wedding Pictures- Like I mentioned before Candid shots are great i.e. just being yourself, walking away(pics from behind), laughing, kissing etc. Also, fun ones like men in sunglass, girls showing leg are always fun, 1 or 2 Bride & Groom shots (head shot & full body), Group pics of Girls and Guys, Wedding Party Picture(maybe get copies so everyone can have one?), the hand pic Erin suggested is cool. Umm...something funky like bubbles could be cool.

Key - Who are you still waiting Pics from in the Wedding Party???
