A Fabulous Day!

Congratulations Matt & Key! You both looked amazing! I hope you're enjoying your honeymoon - talk to you when you get back!

Thank you to the wedding party (Erin, Jill, Tanya, Dave & Nolan) for everything you did so that we could all pull off a successful and beautiful wedding and reception. The 6 of us made an amazing team - thank you for all the laughs, smiles and feelings of security that you left me with.

To the Girls - We did it! We should start a party planning company! Hahahaha!

To the Guys - Dave amazing story/speech at the reception! Nolan - You're hilarious thanks for keeping a smile on everyone's faces and leading the Pop-quiz so well - still think the head table should have won!

To all the people who helped out(you know who you are) - thank you soo much for everything you did! The decorating, the CD burning, the idea brainstorming etc.

Kirsten- The gift opening went great! Matt & Keira got more stuff off their registry and also some lovely self/home-made gifts (a wonderful scrapbook etc). Wish you could have made it!

To All - Anyone who took pictures at the ceremony, reception or gift opening - if you can please pass on your digital camera files or extra photo's to Keira & Matt via mail or e-mail - they didn't take any of their own so would love copies of any pictures out there!

Hope to see you all again soon (maybe for a baby shower - teehee)! Take Care and enjoy your summer!

To the Bride and Groom...

I just want to say congratulations to Keira and Matt!! Tomorrow is their big day, and they will finally be tying the knot! We wish you all the best and hope that tomorrow brings lots of smiles of happiness. You are starting your lives off together as best friends and lead each other into your future hand in hand, side by side. I know that over the last couple years you both have been able to grow induvidually, but also just as important, as a couple. We all look at you with admiration and know that it takes great strength for you to not only have such a close loving and healthy relationship but to also be able to work hard at starting your careers and hopefully in the not so distant future, a family. Bryce and I just had our 5 year anniversary 2 days ago, and if there is anything that we have learned as a couple, one thing would be to always be there for each other, laugh, listen and to take that much needed break from the world just to say 'I Love You' each and every day. There is nothing stronger than the love you can create together and then look back upon when things begin to look dim. Together you will pick each other up and move on ahead, that is what love is... creating memories that you can cherish as a couple and when you look back, know that it was so worth it.

A Woop woop for the Bride and Groom and may your wedding day run smoothly but "quickly" so you can get on your plane and start your real life together. Happy Honeymooning!!!

Trying to be there tonight....

Well, we were planning on making it, and still trying to, but Bryce worked all day and works in the morning, and I have had a hell of a day, just not feeling well at all. Want to feel better for the 'big day' So hopefully see you tonight... Dave is going to meet us after he is done work at 9pm. Any idea whatz happening after the comedy show...he'll have to phone I guess and find out where we can meet him. I'd imagine we will still be at sneakers around 9 wont we???

Hey Party Animals,

The plan for Thursday is to meet at Sneakers at 6. The show starts at 7. The rest of the details we can iron out once we're all in the same city. See you all soon.

Hey Matt...

you guys can come for lunch with us too if you are going to be hungry...or are you going to be running around?? getting beautifull?? doing your nails??? :)

Kirsten...

Lunch sounds good, How about we meet at 12:30 at the Turtle Bay Pub?? It is at the first set of lights by the lake, just as you come into winfield. You turn left to go to the pub, and you turn right to go to Kopje park. that should give us enough time to eat, get to know each other again, and be at the college at 2.

...

More like half an hour to decorate and nearly an hour to get ready. There are a million of you and barely any decorations. It won't take long!

lots of help

Hey there is no need to send you mom to help decorate.
there is Matt, Nolan, Ang, Bryce, me and Drew. that is tonnes of people. Ang if worse comes to worse we can get ready in our cars! I dont' want to get a dorm room since we don't have 2 days off. thus dont' want to book for 2 nights. but we are planning a hotel room!
Ang and Bryce you wanna hook up for some lunch before decorating? Get to know each other again since we will be spending most of the night together.. sitting at the friends table and decorating and such.
are the baloons helium? do we need to get them filled? do we have to set the tables? or are the caterers doing that, oh wait is it a buffet?
argh. so yes. really we have an hour to decorate the place and a half hour to get dressed shower off and makeup and shit???
ok
Kirsten

Timing

That's the earliest we can get in, but it should be fine. You, Kirsten, Matt, Dave and Nolan will all be doing it, and there's not that much to do, just 4 centrepieces, placecards, balloons and the paper lanterns. I can ask my mom and grandma to join in too if you want. Also, you can get ready in the dorms and the park is no more than 20 minutes away.

2:00???

WoW!! okay, we were going to meet at noon, but I guess we'll just have to come later... I just hope that gives us enought time to get everything decorated, get ready and then be at the park... i guess you cant get in the room any earlier???

Decorate

The room will be available to decorate at 2:00.

Thanks Kirsten, you rock my world. The candle containers can be pickle jars or whatever, you can't see them. There is a patio with tables, that's where these lanterns go.

tea lights

tea lights will work I got all the lantern stuff and will be crafting away all day today. I got 12 bags.. but now I was wondering if these will be going on the tables??? I don't know how that would work since you said that the tables were round and you already have a center piece. if the tables were square then it would be easy putting lanterns on either side of the "stargazers".
so yes. where would you like us to put them?
and for glass containers would you like nice ones or just pickel and jam jars?? if I got nice one would you ever use them again??
will 12 be enough?
ok ok
Kirsten

Stargazin'

Stargazers are the flowers that we're having at the wedding. They are giant, fragrant pink and white lilies. Kirsten I would looooove if you would do the paper lanterns! I can reimburse you for the costs. Can you use tealights in them, or do you need a container around the tealight? Too bad you didn't mention the stereo system before, we're paying a bunch of money to rent one at the reception. For the ceremony Nicole leant us a little one, I haven't tested it for sound yet but yours would definately be better.

As far as pictures by everyone after the ceremony, that's a no-go. We are trying to keep that in-between time as short as possible and that would probably add a lot of time. But what's more important is that the photographer is not taking very many shots and we purposely set things up in a manner that would get the families out of there asap, so they don't start saying "now one of Keira with grandma, now one of Matt with his parents..." etc. If all the friends stay around after the ceremony, then the families will too, and that will be unpleasant. Anyway there will be snacks, wine, and icebreaker games at the reception hall. And we can go outside and snap more pictures at the reception too.

Sunday, May 15, 2005

ok.

I would also like to get a pic of you and me Keira after the cerimony. will that be a problem?
I'm sure me and Ang can handle anything you throw at us. um.. I know what the paper bag lanterns are suposed to look like. I have a couple days off this week. do you want me to get started on them here and then just bring them down?? I have to make some from my wedding anyways. did you want lace around the top or paper doilies? and how many did you want? I could pick up some fancy scissors and cut the top off the bag then add lace. whatever. They are very pretty. I"m sure Michaels has white paper bags there.
Ang what time do you want to meet at??
Keira.. did you ever get a sterio??
did you get one big enough for the reception? if not me and drew have a big one with 5 disk holder so no one needs to take care of music. we also have huge speakers and an amp. it gets really loud.
ok thats it.. make sure you call me tomorrow
Kirsten
ps Ang e-mail me
pps. what the fuck are stargazers?

What on earth are stargazers???

Sounds good....just let us know what time you want us out there. The paper bags sound really cool and like an awesome idea... we could totally set those up for you. I think you can get white paper bags at a bakery...seeing you probably dont need that many...they may sell you some..
Other wise you can probably find some at a restaurant supplies store, or at big buy in Vernon... I f you want I can look around for you. Are you using tea lights in them???

k well... see you guy's on thursday... what time are we meeting at Sneakers again??? Are we going to be able to get a table this time keira?? (cause when we went for the hypnotist, it was packed....or were you and matt not there that time?) Ummm.... I know Dave (our room mate) isn't going to the wedding, but he has nothing to do after work that night... and we were wondering if he could come??

Decorating Comittee

Matt will pick up the flowers and bring them, the decorations, the placecards and the seating chart to the hall. Matt knows what the centrepieces look like.

The decorations are mainly the centrepieces and placesettings. The flowers will need to be cut and arranged in the teapots, and there are extra flowers for the cake table, head table, etc. We might also do paper lanterns with stargazers on the patio but that depends on how easy it is to find white paper bags and sand. We will also bring the arch in but not until after the ceremony of course.

I left a message with the conference centre to have the tables set as early as possible becuase the centrepieces can't go up until the tables are set. Hopfully they'll call back with a time tomorrow.

That's all I know, me/matt/ang/kirsten/anyone else? will have to iron this out this week.

Couple Questions

What do you want done with the decorations in the reception area? (how do you want it decorated?) anything specific? And is all of the stuff going to be up at the college in the room, or do we have to pick it up at your house?

When you and the bridal party are having pictures done at the park, are some of the guests allowed to hang around and also take a few good shots? Some photographers don't mind, but some don't like people hanging around.....??????

Friday:
  • Bridesmaids and I go to the florist and jewler and then make sure we have our nails/etc. done all during the day.

Saturday:
  • Kirsten and Drew will pick up the flowers in the early afternoon and meet Ang and anyone else who is decorating at the reception room. The bridesmaids and I might be able to pop in too. Someone from this activity will bring the bouquets along to the ceremony and give them to the Reverend's wife.

Fearless

Erin I love my wedding makeup... first I wasn't used to it but it totally grew on me and I reallylove it. Thank you!

Kirsten, I bought a ringbearer pillow today. If you want to make one, I'll gladly return the one I bought and use your handmade one. If you don't want to make one, that's okay.

Thanks Tanya, it would be totally cool of you and others to be sure to circulate and make things comfortable.

I feel really naseous; I might have the flu. FUCK.

Have no fear!

Hey Keira everyone,
Keira I would be happy to make you your pillow.
I'll also pick up the flowers and help decorate with Ang and your ma. I'll be going threw Kelowna on the way to the wedding. tell me how you want the pillow.. if you want any color on the lace.. anything. also do you want me to put some lace in the middle of the pillow so we can tie the rings to it so they don't fall off. or just leave it?
Is there anything eles that I can do for you on the day of the wedding?? Drew will aso help if there is anything the men need help doing or women. who ever. I'm getting so excited for 2 reasons. Long Time No Blog

Sorry guys for not blogging as often as i would like, but hear i am. The bridal shower went wonderful, it all happened so great because of Sam and Erin and Jill, you guys rock. About rooming with the others, i am up for a 4 bedroom deal if anyone needs an extra in their room, i'm there. oooooh only one week till the rehearsal, it's coming up quick, i'm really excited. About the Parent table, i'm sure I can help mingle and keep things positive.
Tanya

Congrats Matt

Matt just got his Certified General Accountant stuff so he's officially a CGA student. Hooray Matt!

Deigan is the ring bearer, but I haven't found a pillow yet except for in a bridal store for $40. Can somebody help me?! If anyone can sew, that would do.

Happy friday the 13th.

Clearing Something Up...

Sam said see you at north campus on the Friday at 4:00... just want to make sure everyone knows that the rehearsal is at Kopje park, not north campus.

Countdown

I am scared of your advice Sam... but remember I don't need as much advise as you might think in the gettin' freaky department. Grr baby!

I think we'll use Canon for the aisle walk, even though it's typical. I want Claire de Lune (not the version you remember from playing the recorder in grade 4) but Matt thinks it's too "movie". The song I still need is the cheerful one that plays as soon as the ceremony is done and we're walking down the aisle. walking back up the aisle. As far as the man/wife dance, we're scrapping that. No one ask us to dance, we won't do it.

I'm feeling bad for my parents... the only people they have to sit with now are their own moms, who will go to bed early and then there will be just the two of them, and they don't get along. There isn't enough room at the Garcia table to put them there (and they wouldn't fit in anyway). I don't know what to do.

WooHoo!! Keira & Matt are getting married in 9 days!

Hello Team Sugar!
I want to start off by saying thank you to all the Bridesmaids for helping put on an excellent Bridal shower and after-party....it turned out amazing! I think we all learned more about each other than we ever expected! A special thank you to Jill and Erin ~ without the two of you things wouldn't have worked so well, thanks!
I can't believe that I will be back in Winfield in 7 days and that the wedding is in 9 days! Wow...how time flies!
Words of Wisdom/Advice Book - hahaha just wait Key I haven't written my words of wisdom yet......worried aren't you? hahaha.....I will do it on the Thursday I am there.
Key - Sorry to hear that G-pa and Norma won't be attending.....hopefully you hear back from the other 3 or 4 people soon. Did G-pa get his invite? Haven't got mine yet but it normally takes longer to get mail to Vancouver.
Rehearsal Dinner - sounds like you've got everything organized for the Friday night! I'll see everyone at 4:00pm @ North Campus. What are we doing afterwards?
Key & Matt - what is Deigan wearing to the wedding?? Is he the ring barrer(spelt wrong)?

Answering some of Key's Q's-
Where are the ladies getting ready?? Campus/hotel rooms or at Key & matt's house?
If we are getting ready in Winfield can't one of the guys dropped our bouquets there...or have them at the park with the ministers wife....either option might work.
I think Leia's car would be best...it's bigger and has 4 doors so more room to not get our dresses wrinkly......
Song - Hmmmm....is this for walking down the aisle or your first dance? Are you and matt still learning dance steps?
Ignoring your Mom/Garcia glares - You've got several options...you can glare back and smother your Mom til she thinks you're a freak OR you can hang out with the fun younger people, get drunk and boogie woogie til you can't boogie woogie no more.

Key - that is cool that Dad is giving you the Piano....where are you going to put it? Living room or spare room??? Is it part of your wedding gift? I totally forgot you knew how to play...wow childhood memories coming back....

Erin - Have you created your website yet??? If so, what's the addy?

Robyn - Welcome to Blog!

Alrighty that's it for me....see some of you in 7 days...everyone else in 9!

Grandpa John Can't Come

He's having his artery surgery and will be in the hospital. Norma won't be there either.

Rooms

Lisa and I have a room. If you had asked last week...
Bryce and I are just going home to Vernon the night of the wedding...

Hotel

It's my understanding (I could be wrong on a couple) that these people don't have a dorm room booked yet: Jess&Jonas, Robyn&Greg, Ang&Bryce, Erin&Rob, Tanya, Lisa, Dave

So, there's an opportunity to book a 4-bedroom, or a 4-bedroom-plus-rollout-bed and save money.

Jess is into it; if anyone else is then blog or email each other. Do it fast; we're talking about like a week away and there are other events happening (vacancy filling) at North Campus that weekend.

All in a Day's Work

Of course, I value the marriage advise I got from a room full of mostly divorcées and unmarried young ladies. Haha. In all seriousness though, it was a great idea and the book is beautiful.

I'm still plugging away at the wedding stuff, and now I find I have to start thinking about the logistics of the actual day. Like how do the flowers get from the men to the ladies? What car will we drive? When will we eat? What fucking song will we use, already!? How will I stay clear of my own mother, and of the sneering eyes of the Garcia table?

Tuesday, May 10, 2005

Ha Ha Ha

It was Adive or Words of Wisdom! so i'm sure you were given words of wisdom all around! hehehe just thought i'd throw that one in there...keira i wrote you and email so i dont need to blog....talk to you soon!
Erin

PS

Thanks Bill for being the only one to write in the advice book that we don't need any advice!

Remaining Positive

I just thought of something positive to blog (unless anyone wants to hear about Matt's mom, who is STILL harrassing me to change the wedding).

My dad is giving us his piano. Lately I've been listening to the great classics and aching to play again. I can't wait!

Also we'll see Sam and Dave and the rest of you in just 9 days. As I have already promised a couple of you, we will party hard and I will not be sick and pass out early.

12 days

Remind us never to go camping with Dave... we've heard about two camping trips and they both ended in the emergency room. Poor Katie, hope she's all better.

We got the invitations friday and some guests already have them, the rest are in the mail.

Thank you to my bridesmaids for a fantastic weekend from which I am not yet recovered. There was an enormous shower at which I was showered with a truckload of gifts, some of which made me blush and Matt's mom have a series of heart attacks. We also played lots of fun games. Then I was completely blown away by a movie-theme dinner and party where I drank more than I have since highschool, some people learned way too much about others, and we had a full-house sleepover. I will never underestimate the gals' ability to surprise me again; they got into my house to decorate and stock my fridge and made me think that I made the dinner plans.

Friday, May 06, 2005

Sorry... should have mentioned

There was a slight delay with the invitations, but I'm sure you will get them today. Katie hurt herself when she was camping on the weekend, so I had to drive out there, pick her up and spend all day in the emergency room (she's fine now)... so I didn't get a chance to mail them that day. I sent it express, so if you don't get them today, let me know and I can track it and see where it is.

15 days

I felt like I should blog since I haven't in awhile. This week and last have been crazy; I basically do wedding stuff from 8-5 every day and most days I'm in Kelowna, ordering things, picking up things, changing things, and definately buying things.

We haven't got the invitations yet but since Dave sent them last weekend, we should have them by now. Keep your fingers crossed they'll be in the mail today!

I have some wedding logistics to talk about, mostly with Erin, but I'll wait untill I see the gals... one of these days.

Wednesday, May 04, 2005

Rehearse

At the rehearsal, we all meet at the same location as the wedding and do a run-through of everything. This way everyone knows in what order they are coming down the aisle, where they are standing, who is doing what, how long things take, etc, etc. All of you have a part to perform. Dave, you'll be standing next to Matt and presenting us with our rings. Only the people who are actually going to be involved in the ceremony come; that will be the 8 of us, plus Nicole & Deigan, my dad, Jodi, the rev and his wife. Also we'll go over the chair/table setup since you boys will be doing that the next day.

Rehersal

... pardon my ingnorance, but what happens exactly at the rehersal... I've never been really involed in a wedding, so I'm just wondering what to expect. Thanks.
