I have not been deliberatly not blogging, just a note to everyone. i have been busy, i don't feel the need to justify myself so here i am. I am here if anyone needs me, give me a call, e-mail me, i will be continuing to read the blog.

Ok... invitations are finally done - In the mail tomorrow.

I've been fitted for my tux.

My condo is in Langley on the top floor of a nice building close to work. I move in June 1st.

Guest List

Keira i need you to send me a list of all the guests....also i need to know which guests i need to make a name card for, for the ceremony, and then as well as for the reception. If you could get those to me soon that'd be greatly appreciated as i am working at the lanes tomorrow night for 8 hours and i know i am going to be hella bored and this gives me something to do!

No actually...

Actually it is the Silverware that is the flatware. It's just another name for it I guess. I found that out when we got engaged because my Oma and Opa got us a nice flatware set for us as a tradition they had started with their kids when they got engaged.
What ideas do you have for the decorations??? It sounds like you're on a roll! Just let me know if you want my help. :)

The $800 day

Wow, you bought a condo! That is really cool. Is it in Langley?

Exams finished last week, thank fuck. I've been a lean mean wedding machine since then. Today I got all the gifts done. I also bought some of those little wedding bells and have some crafty ideas. If anyone wants to help, it should be fun.

Then, I was in the Bay and noticed that the dishes and stuff (is that called flatware?) that we registered for were gone. Turns out they have been discontinued. Thank goodness I happened to check!!!! Anyway I had to basically redo the registry. But there's lots of new stuff on it, so please pass it on to anyone who wants to know. And remember, when you buy something from a registry you have to let the cashier know or it will stay on the list.

We'll get the invitations any time and immediately send them out. 23 days till the wedding. PS I bought a punchbowl for my shower, whenever that may be.

Hey thanks for the reminder, I'm going after work today to get fitted. I bought a condo on the weekend and I've been bogged down in paperwork ever since, now I'm just trying to catch up on everything.

Hey there....sry...have been sick all last night (monday) and all day today.....but keira if it isn't too late, gimme a call tomorrow morning when ur at the body shop for your car.....i have to be at work at 12:30, if worse comes to worse, could u drop the stuff off at my shop? its on Hollywood and Hwy 33.....by the wendy's in rutland....across from that mall we went to starbucks at(has macdonalds on the corner)....if not i'll meet up with you another time i guess....but give me a shout if ur in town after 9.....and i'll try to meet ya, we can go for coffee or something......

The center pieces sound Cool Keira... I am so glad you were able to come up with something you liked....that was easy. I can't wait to see them.!

Monday Morning

Well I can't drop them off cause I have no car, it's being fixed. You could come meet me and save me from waiting 2 hours alone in the scungy waiting room, or I could pop over with them after if it's not too late.

The centrepieces are teapots and teacups. We'll buy Artknap flowers on the day before, or send the boys for flowers on the day of, and put them in. The teacups and candles alternate in an escalating circle around the pot, which is on top of 2 books. I *finally* had a creative spurt last night and so I have a whole bunch more decorating ideas. If our hair is done early enough, maybe we'll go help decorate after all.

hummm...a bit confuzzled

hey there key....just read the last post so i am going to just ask some questions about it or make some comments.... and I (Key) will answer the comments in blue.

• 9:00am for the hair is quite early......we need to make sure we have a bottle of hairspray with us at all times...hahaha...with 7 hours till the ceremony we'll probs need to sray! but we'll make doo..... I was worried about that too but they said no way will our hair come out. PS remember you figured the hair would take a really long time. So if we're at the salon till 1:00, then we have 3 hours (not 7) to get dressed, get made up, eat, and get to the ceremony (a good half hour away)
• glad to hear u bought a tanning pass...i have stopped tanning but i am going to start up again this weekend....hehehe...i've blinded myself by the white! hahaha Blinded by the white... wake up like a douche, in the middle of the night...
• good on ya bout the dress, glad all thats taken care of... Well no, but that one part is. Still several visits to go
• confused how on the table centerpieces??? The short version: I'm apprehensive becuase I'm not sure they'll look nice and I don't want to spend a second 100+ and still have ugly centrepieces. Also, I found Ivy but I can't buy it yet becuase apparently they all get spider mites no matter what you do. Even the ones in the store had them. I don't want them in my house!
• what game are we leading once we get back to the reception? I'll explain it later
• when would u like me to do the place setting cards? Well there are still a few weeks and I'm not anal so whenever you want. If you want to get them out of the way soon just tell me when you're home and I'll bring 'em over.
• WHAT THE HECK ARE ICEBREAKERS??? I'm astounded that you're asking now; I have talked about them since blog number one. They are group games that cause everybody to interact and wind up making everyone friendly and happy. There are millions of them; just google "icebreaker games" and you'll see.
• and the gift opening is in vernon at your mom's place? if so i'll need an address and who is transporting all the gifts (if they are brought to the wedding and not straight to the gift opening) and wut time??? Everybody will need the address. We'll make up some sort of little paper with the address and time and give it out at the wedding and announce it as well. We haven't set an exact time, but late morning is a normal time (to account for sleeping in). One or two of us will have to load presents into our cars, but there won't be alot of presents remember. Only like up to 15.

ok well i think thats all i am confused bout right now so get back to me! **One more thing: I'm getting my practice hairdo next Saturday (April 30). Can you do my practice makeup on that day too?**

Here Comes the Bride

Yesterday was the first day out of exams, and here's what I did:

• Moved the ladies hair appointment to 9:00
• bought a much-needed tanning pass
• Went for my dress fitting with Ang and Bill and the dress is being altered now
• looked at, got confused by and didn't quite buy the rest of the centrepeices
• booked and paid for the chairs and table for the ceremony

Also, here's the new sched for the wedding:

4:00-4:30 Ceremony

4:30-5:00 bridal party pictures and 2 obligatory family pictures- need family police (BILL)

5:00 Bridal Party goes back to reception to lead game, K&M stay for rest of pics

5:45 Reception starts, icebreakers by bridal party

6:15 M&K arrive

6:30 Dinner

7:30ish Speeches etc.

It's nice of Jodi to to the guestbook and music with you. Would she want to do the music at the ceremony? We need someone to hit "play" and "stop" at the appropriate moments. She wouldn't be farther away than the guests. PS, we need to borrow your ghetto. Is that still what they're called? I haven't used one since the early 90's. Boombox? Portable stereo?

Anyway yes we're registered at the Bay, but there are many things that we didn't think to put on there. We'll go do that as soon as we're done exams. Does Dawna want to know my favourite thing from the registry, or do you mean that she wants to get something else?

We finally got the sample invitation in the mail yesterday. It is spectacular! We never could have imagined it would be so cool. The logistics and creativity involved in making everything line up and coordinate so perfectly are astounding to us. The invitation looks great no matter which way it's unfolded and they'll be perfect keepsakes. Dave, thank you so much.

We'll call you tomorrow to figure out the logistics of sending them here. Thank you again, we're very excited for everyone to see them! Thank you for the CDs as well.

Yup, Games night 23rd. Ang, I think you were about the only person not drinking last time, so it's funny that you don't remember that we set that date!

Don't know if everyone wants to just do snacks again, but incase we want to do a meal I just aquired an orgasmic new quiche recipe.

Oh and I would love for you to come with me to see the dress! The store hours are during the day and closed on Sundays, so whatever day and time are good for you are good for me (after this wednesday).

Bridal Party - It's time to put you're thinking hats on....I will send an e-mail before the end of the week explaning what still needs to be done by us.

Readings- The poem for the reverend is awesome! Erin glad you like the one you've got too! I'm still working on my reading/speech. Glad to hear two people like it; now I feel ready to send it to the rev.

OUC is on University Way - I checked the map that came with my room reservations Like I said, mapquest can be wrong especially when it comes to small areas like Winfield. Anyway if it wasn't University Way before, it will be cause it's going to be a UBC now.

Dave - Is it alright if I use one of your pictures that you took????

Key & Matt - What are the plans for the Friday night before the wedding?? There will be a rehearsal. I'm going to send the reverend the reading and ask him what time is best for him and his wife, who have a four year-old son. PS the wife will be there at the real ceremony to help with the logistics like who walks when, etc.

Key & Erin - How did the appointment with the florist go? Is everything set? Did you check to see if they can supply ivy plants as well?? If not, have you found somewhere to get ivy from? The flowers were ugly but I had her change them and now they're okay. Ivy from a florist would be way too expensive. I'm keeping my eye out, if you folks would do the same that would be super.

Key- Has your dress & veil arrived yet? Just yesterday. I need someone to go with me for the alteration appointment... I need to decide whether to have straps put on. I can't go till this thursday or later due to exams. Someone please go with me!

I had an idea...for the wine ceremony why don't you use a bottle of wine made by a family member instead of buying one. This way it was more meaning and is way cheaper! Interesting... but I don't think anyone makes wine, do they?

Key -Can you make a list of anything else for the bridesmaids to do that hasn't been done yet or that we've forgotten Certainly. Coming right up.

Key- Did you change the hair appointments for Saturday morning?? No- what time shall I change them to? 11:00?

Music - Do we still need more song ideas/options? If so, let me know I've got some good ones! Give them to me! Kirsten, Ang & Bryce gave me some awesome CDs for the dance; more dance songs are welcome but my real concern is what song to walk down the aisle to, play when we're man and wife, and dance the first dance to.

Photographer ideas - Do you have enough shot ideas for the photographer??? Well, I only have a few that I came up with/saw. I have been waiting for Tanya's ideas, but haven't heard from her since Easter except for one junk email. If you have some ideas, tell me!

Erin - make sure you get an updated attendee list for the reception before you do the table name tags No it's okay, if the attendees change it will only be by a few people.

Is there a new seating plan???? There will be, but I can't make it yet until we get the RSVPs. So far there's a big problem... we have one more person than we have seats.

Reminder- I am coming up to Winfield on Thursday May 19th(and leaving Tuesday May 24th)! I arrive at 2:30pm. Key are you able to pick me up??? Mais oui, bien sur.

Anyways I think that's all for now, keep updating! We finalized the reception meal/setup etc. choices and are waiting for an invoice (gulp). We settled on Chicken Parmesan; expensive but not so boring as plain chicken. I am having a salmon filet made for me. We booked our flights for the honeymoon, from Kelowna to Montréal, then back from Ottawa to Kelowna. Dave's invitation and CDs should be here today, which is awesome. This week is going to be slow for wedding stuff due to exams but then it will be a blitz. So please keep in touch!

Sorry Dave for not responding earlier. If I had, I would have said go with university way since OUC knows its own address and mapquest is probably wrong. It won't really matter anyway; I think almost everyone knows where it is, and knows each other to ask, plus the way to OUC is extremely well marked with highway signs.Thanks for sending the sample, we should have it tomorrow! We're psyched.

Erin, I just emailed you the poem. The reason I haven't sent it is that we still don't have a reading for the reverend and we thought we might need to give him that one. But I think we'll give him Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barret Browning. Both of them are really beautiful and we really love them both.

Question: The OUC website says the address for the North campus is 3333 University Way, but I couldn't find University Way on mapquest, so i tried College Way and it does find a 3333 College way... anyone know which is right? Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I've been horribly sick this last week, so progress on the invitations stalled a bit, but I'm back in action. I don't want to say they'll be done over the weekend, but that's my tenitive plan. I realise we're running out of time... Matt and Keira I'll be sending you a copy for your approval soon.

Not much new to report becuase it's the last week of school and we're scrambling with the hw. Erin and I went to see the flowers and they were terrible! So I asked the lady to change them and she was pissed. Anyway, they look pretty good now. Also I paid the tuition on a class I'm taking this summer; $666. Is that a bad omen? It's expensive, anyway. Matt and I learned a basic Waltz, but we're not so great. Rhumba is next.

We’re getting our tuxes through Moores. I went into Moores in Kelowna and registered our party and picked out the tux style. Because the tux style is already determined, all you need to do is go into your local Moores and get fitted. When you go into Moores, here is what you need to know/remember:

After they collect this information from you, they will measure your arm length, shoe size, chest size etc. They will also have you try on jackets, shoes, and shirts to determine the proper fit. The whole thing will take about ½ an hour. The total cost of the Tux is $75 for the shoes, jacket, shirt..everything. They will want like a $20 deposit from you at the time of fitting.

After they have your information, measurements, and money, Moore will have the tuxes shipped to Kelowna by May 18th. I know you guys (Dave and Nolan will both be here by Thursday, May 19th so we will go to the Kelowna Moores on Thursday to try on the tuxes in case emergency alternations need to be made.

NOTE : You guys need to get measured by about May 1st so Moores has 2 weeks to get the tuxes shipped to Kelowna.

Dave is still waiting for the ceremony time for the invitations of course, but Dave, are they almost done otherwise?

I still need pictures from Tanya, Bill, Dave, and Nolan.

Sam, we'll phone the Garcia house again for those addresses; we called yesterday but got the answering machine and no call back. Also they have lots of pictures of Matt as a kid (and videos too) and my dad will have some of me so that should be easy to find. The together one should definately come from Dave's bunch that he took.

Wedding Pictures- Like I mentioned before Candid shots are great i.e. just being yourself, walking away(pics from behind), laughing, kissing etc. Also, fun ones like men in sunglass, girls showing leg are always fun, 1 or 2 Bride & Groom shots (head shot & full body), Group pics of Girls and Guys, Wedding Party Picture(maybe get copies so everyone can have one?), the hand pic Erin suggested is cool. Umm...something funky like bubbles could be cool.
